It is easy to shut down and become self focused in a world that is full of demands and pulling in every direction. When it seems like there is never enough time, Amy seems to find the time to help others and make people feel special.
I learned a lot watching Amy graciously, tirelessly and selflessly care for her parents over the last few years. my mother was recently very sick and in the hospital. While I spent time with mom and dad at the hospital, I saw their fear and struggles to maneuver our complex medical system. I also saw the toll it was taking on dad to be the primary caregiver to mom versus being able to relax and be the loving and supportive husband that he is and she needed.
through the lens of Amy, I was able to see that needed to step up and take this role on for the both of them. An aging parents medical care can be a full-time job, and through watching Amy I have learned that no job can be more important.
So despite the fact that some days I feel like my plate is already overflowing, I have taken over all of my mothers medical care and the reward has been amazing. I have seen the weight of the world lifted off of both mom and dad’s shoulders, and I will never forget the love and trust in my mom’s eyes as we talked to the doctor together about her care. I can always live to work another day, but these moments with my mom are priceless. Thank you for showing me the way Amy! I love you ❤️💕
My dear beautiful friend, I will not take any credit. You have been a wonderful daughter your whole life. You have always put your parents first, and your eyes light up whenever you talk about them. I have met them several times through family events, and you can sure tell they think the world of you too. If I have learned one thing about life, it goes way to fast. Enjoy them everyday! Everyday you get with them is a blessing. I love you- Amy
